7 Tips for Writing a Great Post MBA-Interview Thank You Email
Youââ¬â¢ve finally finished your b-school interview and are looking forward to heading home and crossing this experience off your MBA application to-do list. However, before you file the day away, itââ¬â¢s appropriate to send thank you notes to all of the people who helped you during the day. You can really make an impression by sending handwritten notes, but an emailed thank you can also be impressive if done properly. A thank you email starts and finishes with gratitude. It follows a lot of the same rules as other electronic correspondence ââ¬â a greeting, a reason why youââ¬â¢re writing, body content, and a farewell. However, unlike other emails, a well-written thank you can elicit an emotional response, create bonds, and nurture the development of relationshipsâ⬠¦and in this case, give you one more way to become a memorable b-school candidate. Follow these 7 tips to write a post-MBA interview thank you email that will be remembered: 1. Start with the right greeting. Be sure to address the person formally. Use their appropriate title, like Dr. Smith or Prof. Jones, or Ms. Johnson. Even if the person encouraged you to use their first name in the interview, it shows respect to use the more formal form of address in written correspondence. 2. Note the reason why youââ¬â¢re writing. This comes right after the greeting. Have a good reason for writing, and state it clearly. ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m writing to thank you for speaking with me on Monday.â⬠Or ââ¬Å"Iââ¬â¢m writing to thank you for the tour of the campus.â⬠3. Explain how their help or thoughtfulness affected you personally. Write about the positive interaction you had with the person. Describe what it meant to you. If you do this well, the reader will value your honesty and take your compliments to heart. 4. Show how you learned more about the program from the conversation. Give specific examples of how their contributions helped you better understand your target program and your goals. Did you discover something new about the program that you hadnââ¬â¢t known before? Did you find out about an exciting opportunity? Did the person share something in common with you that influenced how you now view your own positions or goals? 5. Follow up with information you offered to provide or with any questions you have. Be sure to follow up on any points or areas you said you would. This is also the place to ask any questions that occurred to you after your interaction with the person. Donââ¬â¢t make up a question to have something to ask ââ¬â you donââ¬â¢t want to appear insincere. 6. Provide relevant or necessary updates. This can include new publications, awards, or grades. Although you want to send your thank you note as soon as possible, if you have to wait a day or two to send a thank you that includes meaningful updates, itââ¬â¢s better to do so. 7. Restate gratitude. Donââ¬â¢t be afraid to strengthen your expression of gratitude through repetition. Just state it in another way at the end of the email. Following these seven tips will assure that your thank you email is read, appreciated, and remembered, and will hopefully bring you one step closer to receiving that acceptance at your top choice MBA program! The Effects Of Sex On Mental Rotation Performance Accuracy...
Sex Differences in Mental Rotation Performance Accuracy and Speed Imbedded in human history, gender stereotypes have been strong regulators of social roles. Although gender stereotyping has not been as overt in recent years, its impact in regards to spatial knowledge is still a critical matter. Recognized as one of the factors of intelligence, spatial knowledge is crucial in the fields of mathematics, engineering, and physics (Gardner, 1983; Neuburger, Jansen, Heil, Quaiser-Pohl, 2012; Titze, Jansen, Heil, 2011; Wraga, Helt, Jacobs, Sullivan, 2007). There has generally been a gender gap in these fields, with an underrepresentation of females, and this may be due to stereotype threat (ST), the phenomenon in which individuals of minority groups are fearful of fulfilling negative stereotypes regarding their associated groups. Stereotype regarding spatial ability typically emphasizes males outperforming females on related mental rotation tasks (Neuburger et al., 2012; Titze et al., 2011; Wraga et al., 2007). Females may be experiencing ST, thus lead ing to poorer performance on mental rotation tasks. In a society that continues to strongly advocate for gender equality, the present study was conducted as a preliminary observation to determine whether there were current statistical implications for the stereotype. In a study conducted by Neuburger and colleagues (2012), researchers observed performances of fourth-graders on mental rotation tasks. The World s Greatest Inventors - 909 Words
Back in the days, Technology are dominated by men. Benjamin Franklin, Alexander graham bell, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla are among the greatest technology pioneer of all time (Top 10 Greatest Inventors in History, 2011). Soon, women started inventions of their own. Nancy Johnson s ice cream maker, Maria Telkes solar-powered house, Grace Hopper s computer programming and Stephanie Kwolek s Kevlar are among famous women inventions (10 of the World s Greatest Female Inventors You Need to Know. (n.d.). It is generally assumed that men are more interested in technology than women are but that is not the case at all. Studies show that women are equally interested in technology but there is a very marked difference in the way they think about and relate to it (Gender and Technology, 2011). I think men are more interested on technical specifications and how a technology works. Women are more interested on how to use a technology and the benefits that comes from using it. When I ta lked to my male co worker about cars, they would jump right away into conversations by saying how many cylinders does the engine has, the type of valves, turbo or supercharge etc. Women would rather discuss about how they like camaro because they are fast, look sexy and cool. I m pretty sure this does not apply to a lot of people but at home, my wife loves to use the washing machine and the dish washer. Design in Experimental and Applied Psychology
Question: Discuss about the Design in Experimental and Applied Psychology. Answer: Critique on the Effects of Job Stress Management on Low Back Pain The examiners of, "Effects of Job Stress Management on Low Back Pain" saw past research developed that occupation stress is an imperative wellspring of stress for adults and there is relationship between physical distress and stress. To support such a theory they coordinated an audit on stress organization as a treatment for physical torment. This was done in two areas. Test 1 intended to show that lower back torment is a consequence of occupation stress and examination 2 addresses a push to choose the effects of stress organization on lower back torment. A positive outcome would be typical if comes to fruition on account of the audit report that tension organization treatment reduces work extend and that occupation stress is a supporter of lower back desolation. The thesis statement for this particular experiment can be, Is low back pain cause from job stress? A facility in a urban zone was used for the setting of the survey. The pros used 60 labourers from the recuperating focus from different workplaces (e.g., collaborator staff, supervisors, physicians)to ensure that case was illustrative of the specialist's office delegate masses. Each part volunteered to be a bit of the survey however half of them had a record of using tired leave in light of lower back torment. Each social event involved 18 men and 12 women. The mean age social affair of each get-together was (M=39.2) and (M=40). For trial 1 individuals were made a demand to round out a concur shape and to complete the Paulson Job Stress Inventory (PJSI) as the stock has incredible resolute quality and authenticity reports, and had been used viably in many surveys. The social event that continued with lower back distress had a mean score of 187.4 on the PJSI, while the mean of the get-together who did not protest of lower back torment had a mean score of 168.7. This supported the hyp othesis that the work push mean would be basically higher for the lower back torment assemble. For test 2, a comparative two social events of individuals in Experiment 1 were the individuals and ensuing to completing the PJSI, individuals were taught in making concerning a movement out of four tension organization instructional gatherings. The sessions were coordinated for little social events of 6 laborers at profitable conditions and each get-together contained 3 individuals from the lower back misery get-together and 3 the get-together without back torment. All nervousness organization instructional gatherings were sorted out and passed on by the researchers who were exceedingly handy in the subject range. Consequent to heading off to each one of the 4 sessions, individuals again balanced the PJSI. Pretest-Posttest relationship was done and the results exhibited that there was a 22 point reduce in stress levels for the social affair with lower back misery and only a 8.1 point lessen for the control total. From such results, it can be assumed that lower back distress is no s hort of what one aftereffect of occupation stress and a tremendous diminishment in occupation stress can be from laborers getting stress organization get ready. It can be concluded that job stress can be the sole and the root cause for the development of the low back pain. Bibliography Cherkin, D. C., Sherman, K. J., Balderson, B. H., Cook, A. Lord Of The Flies Essays (794 words) - Fiction,
Lord Of The Flies In the book ?The Lord of the Flies? the author uses the conch as a symbol of unity. At the beginning of the story the conch was spotted by a boy named Ralph who did not know what it was, but the other boy named Piggy sed that it was called a conch. Piggy had an idea to blow it to get other people on the island to come to them. After Ralph retrieved the conch from the lagoon Piggy showed Ralph how to blow it. His first couple of tries were weak, then he bellowed into it . The conch made a deep, harsh noise . After a few blows boys started to come out out of the jungle . The conch is what first united the stranded boys together. The author also used the conch as a sign of power, because after the boys were together they decided that they needed a chief so they chose Ralph because he used the conch to call the others to them. Ralph also used the power of the conch to quiet the boys . When he wanted their attention and for them to be quiet he would hold up the conch and wait for them to be quiet and pay attention. He also used it to call the boys back to camp. At the beginning the boys went out to look for water but by the time they found some Ralph had blew on the conch to call them back to camp . The conch was used by Ralph to call the boys to a meeting. During the meetings a person could only speak if they raise their hand and hold up the conch . At the meeting to discuss the fire Ralph blew on the conch to call them to the meeting . After everyone was seated Ralph lifted the conch for them to be silent then he began to explain that they were on an uninhabited island with no grownups so they would have to look after themselves . That's when Ralph made the rules about the conch at the meetings. He tried to boost there moral by making the island sound fun. In the book when Ralph notices that the conch has been paretically bleached by the sun and had become a creamy-pink color. The author used the fading color of the conch to show that the boys were growing apart. Because that's when you really notice that Jack holds no regard for Ralph's rules and rather go his own way. At the same meeting is when the little boy speaks out about a beast that Simon clames isn't real and the beast is inside man himself. Jack insists that they need to hunt more , but Ralph doesn't agree with him and instead he said they needed to build shelters incase another storm came like the one they encountered upon their arrival . Ralph also said their first priority is to get rescued and to get rescued they needed more smoke. But Jack still insisted they needed to hunt more. Jacks defiance shows that he will soon go his own way. Near the end of the book when the conch is destroyed and Piggy is killed by a huge boulder that was rolled down a hill at the castle rock by Roger. After Jack and some other boys split off into their own tribe . They set up camp at a place they called ?Castel Rock? . Piggy was upset that they had taken his glasses. So Ralph and Piggy went to go and get them back. Ralph told Piggy to get the conch to take it with them, as if he thought it still possessed power over Jack's tribe. When they got down there Ralph asked for Jack. When Jack came out Ralph told him to give Piggy's glasses back. After some arguing over the fire among other things Roger started tossing rocks down at them from the top of the castle rock. Roger still had one hand on the lever that was wedged under the boulder while he was throwing the rocks. Then Roger, with a sense of delirious abandonment, leaned all his weight on the lever and the boulder went crashing down the hill. The rock struck Piggy with a hard

A sound mind in a sound body. A sound mind in a sound bodyHuman Resource Management. A contemporary world arena of business making continuously watches an incessant competition race among contestants. They pursue the goals of getting profits and taking a prevailing position in a particular business field. No doubt, each company focuses on reaching success which is hard to imagine without leadership. It is true to assume that the dominance in the world market place requires huge resources involvement. Thus, the shareholders having invested in the companyââ¬â¢s prosperity expect the ââ¬Ëharvestââ¬â¢ to be visible and tangible. So, in this connection we speak about the feedback that the investing participants are eager to see. Here it is relevant to consider the paramount importance of the companyââ¬â¢s human resource management (HRM), since it is the human resources (HR) that bring along the companyââ¬â¢s exuberance. The personnel being the integral parts of the whole profit making machine comprise the ââ¬Ëmotive forceââ¬â¢ that canââ¬â¢t be neg lected. In addition, the workforce is commonly quite varied, thus the HRM is supposed to apply a smart diverse managing program referring to and taking into account the employee-concerned factors. Such factors include race, gender, age issues. With the hindsight we may assert that the above mentioned aspects used to and still to some extent continue to be a sticking point on the way to individual recognition at workplace and field of activity. Hence the companyââ¬â¢s management policy resorts to certain regulations in leveling inequalities when evaluating the personnel potential and proficiency. So, in 1960ââ¬â¢ emerges the notion of ââ¬Ëaffirmative actionââ¬â¢ aimed at minimizing and eventually eliminating the prejudiced attitude to the employees for the recruitment process to be regardless of race, religion, origin, gender etc. Thereby, on the grounds of this idea special affirmative action programs (AAP) became to be developed to provide equalà opportunities for such groups as minorities, women, disabled people, veterans (Berkley Lab, 2010, Oct 26). However, why was such practice in human resource management perceived in different ways? Perhaps we should mind that each notion, idea, process in our world faces diverse opinions and there can be arguments both ââ¬Ëforââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëagainstââ¬â¢. The AAP enclosed into the managerial policy evoked a dual response as well. One of the points to say ââ¬ËNOââ¬â¢ is a financial side of the matter, since the program presupposes expenses. Not the least of the aspects appears to be a complicated and long-term cultivation of the non-discrimination-prone standpoint and attitude. Still letââ¬â¢s analyze whether the game is worth the candle. Should the companies be obsessed only with revenues and ignore the role of the individuals and their direct impact on the business development? Itââ¬â¢s a pure delusion to exploit human resources as soul-absent money-making mechanisms. As a matter of fact, the sound environment and fair non-biased approach to people is a substantially essential aspect of the companyââ¬â¢s well-being, since the staff in such conditions w ill demonstrate loyalty and effective productivity. Moreover, even today and in the future perspective the company is likely to gain respect and acknowledgement for the efforts to adhere and spread the idea of equality. Thus, the companyââ¬â¢s sound system ââ¬â ââ¬Ëbodyââ¬â¢ is sure to have a sound ââ¬Ëmindââ¬â¢ ââ¬â companyââ¬â¢s human resources. So, maybe that is the key to success. References Aclu position paper.
